Sunday 8thJanuary 2012 saw not only the first church service to be held in the Carrick Centre but by a happy coincidence the first Baptism. Colin Banyard and his Polish wife brought their son Alexander to be baptised in grandmother Kate’s church. So many friends and family attended along with the expected surge of members eager to experience worship in the new building that the overflow area in the café was pressed into use.
In his service Rev Brian Hendrie stressed that this was a work in progress as the new building is not yet fully equipped. He also pointed out that risk was part of faith and that the risk taken in embarking on this huge project would now pay-off. Outreach to the community is part of the duty of the church and this was a wonderful example. Innovation he said should be the hallmark of an active church. He expressed the hope that the centre would be busy everyday with people making full use of the facilities.
Services throughout January will start at 10am but in February this would change to 10.30am. The church would be very glad to welcome you along.
[We only have the two pictures just now but expect to get some more soon.]

I have been following progress of building of new Maybole parish church as it is just at the bottom of my road and as I have been involved with COS all my life I am considering starting to attend again having been here in Maybole about 3 years now but still not knowing many people. Moved from Perth about 7 years ago previously a member of the Perth North Church . My relatives are mostly in the vicinity of Glasgow but I moved to Ayrshire due to employment and personal reasons and now have retired early but feel a missing link . Thanks C Joss
Glad to see you in church this morning. Sorry we didn’t manage to finish our chat, but hopefully will be able to do that next Sunday — maybe over a cup of tea in the cafe area after the service.

I was blown away by the beauty and practicality of the Carrick Centre today when I arrived for Church. It was well worth the wait for such a lovely building. The needs of all ages have been considered: the small soft play area for little tots right beside the cafeteria where parents and grandparents can enjoy a coffee while watching their charges; the youth group area for older youths; the games hall for the energetic members of the community; the many smaller rooms for various activities and three kitchens to cater for the adult needs. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in getting the building ready for 2012. Very well done! I hope lots of people volunteer to help make the Centre a great success. Kathleen Baty
