Carrick CAN
Monday - Friday 12.30pm – 2.00pm CAN Cook

Social group for 16 to 27 year olds. The group supports young people with additional support needs to become more confident and independent individuals. Through our weekly workshops, we offer a number of subjects including Cookery, Photography, Art and Crafts, The Great Outdoors and Digital Design.

First time cook or catering for a dinner party we have something for everyone.

Our Training Kitchen also offers a weekly session for young people with additional support needs. The sessions teach how to cook healthy and nutritious meals on any budget. This course is also great for those interested in a career in the catering industry.

Employability

The Centre offers a range of in-house work experience placements that can help young people, aged 16-29 year olds, make a successful transition into employment.


Individuals are given the opportunity to have a meaningful work experience in Hospitality, Professional Cookery, Maintenance, Gardening, Youth Work, Administration, Childcare and Digital Design and Marketing. Every young person on a work placement will have a individually tailored Personal Development Plan to ensure they get the most out of their work experience at the centre.

Foodbank

Weekly food bank helping local people with short-term emergency food and support.  Also a Collection Point for donations

Food pantry
Tuesday 10.30am – 12.00pm
Thursday 12.00pm – 4.00pm

The Food Pantry is committed to fighting food poverty, reducing waste and developing skills in the local community. The pantry is stocked with surplus produce from supermarkets which includes a variety of fresh foods (as well as other essentials) to encourage a healthy, well balanced diet. 


For just £2.75 members are able to access the pantry and choose up to 10 items worth approximately £15, freeing up some money for those on a budget as well as helping reduce food waste in the community.

Make that connection, 20 minutes can make all the difference. Volunteering is a crucial part of the centre’s operation and it is our volunteers that help us achieve the service we provide today.


We are always on the look-out for new volunteers and would love to have you join us. No matter how little time you may have your support will help maintain the service and future success of our operation.
